WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines is the flagship WSET Qualification and is established among the top choices for the wine professional worldwide.

The new syllabus focusing solely on wine has been launched in August 2019 around the world embracing the new WSET structure that includes three educational pillars: Wine, Spirits, Sake.

Building on the knowledge and skills gained from WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, the Diploma deepens the student's understanding of how and wine production and business factors influenec the style, quality and price of wines. The expertise is built voth theoretically, through comprehensive study of a large number of wine regions - GREECE included-, and practically, by developing wine tasting skills to an expert level.

A Diploma Graduate demonstrates exceptional analytical skills and proficiency in evaluative wine tasting, and gains global recognition as authorative wine specialists. Those who successfully complete the Diploma will receive a WSET certificate and label pin, and will be able to use the post-nominal "DipWSET" and associated WSET certified logo. They also become a member of WSET Alumni Body with access to quarterly reports and a number of exclusive events.

This Qualification opens the way to those wishing to progress tro the Master of Wine programme.

The new syllabus at a glance

The Diploma is delivered in six (6) mandatory units covering a broad range of topics.

D1 - WINE PRODUCTION / Assesment: 90 minutes closed-book examination of open-response questions

D2 - WINE BUSINESS / Assesment: 1 hour closed-book examination of open-response questions

D3 - WINES OF THE WORLD / Assesment: Day 1: A two-part theory examination of open-response questions / Paper 1: 2 hours - Paper 2: 80 minutes - Day 2: A two-part blind tasting examination of a total of 12 wines to be completed a total of 3 hours

D4 - SPARKLING WINES / Assesment: 90 minutes closed-book examination of open-response questions AND a blind tasting of 3 sparkling wines

D5 - FORTIFIED WINES / Assesment: 90 minutes closed-book examination of open-response questions AND a blind tasting of 3 fortified wines

D6 - INDEPENDENT RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT / Assesment: One research assignment of 3,000 words
