WSET® Level 3 Wines
The objective of Level 3 for the candidate is to acquire an in depth, high level of knowledge of the entire range of wines and spirits in the world market. Upon completion of the programme, students should also have the ability to write comprehensive tasting notes, recognise the different styles of the wines / spirits tasted as well as being able to judge their quality.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAMME AND EVALUATION CRITERIA
Unit 1 - Wines and spirits from around the world
- The production of wine (location, viticulture, vinification, ageing and bottling, label legislation)
- France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Central and Southeast Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, North America, South and Central America
- Sparkling wines
- Fortified wines
- Spirits and Liqueurs
- Information and advice for customers and staff
- In this Unit, the evaluation will be an exam consisting of 50 multiple choice questions and short answer questions
Unit 2 - Tasting and Evaluation of wines of the world
- WSET® Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting - the student learns how to taste wines and spirits in a professional manner, assessing the quality, style and price through the systematic approach to tasting Level 3.
- This Unit is assessed through a blind tasting of two wines.
- Total Programme Duration: 15 weekly lessons + exam (or an intensive seven days programme + exam)
- Exam Duration: 3 hours
- Studies Prerequisites: Successful completion of the WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits.
- Those who pass the exam will receive WSET® Level 3 Awards in Wines and Spirits Certificate and the corresponding pin with the logo of Ariadne.
