John Trypkos was born in Edessa in 1959. At the age of 13 he moved to Athens to contribute to the family income. He graduated from the 2nd night Gymnasium of Ambelokipi. In 1985, after experiencing a diverse mix of jobs, he opened a wines & liquor store in Paleo Faliro. He was won over by the history and beauty of wine and in collaboration with his brother, George, contributed to the dissemination and development of the small producers of Greece as they were then known, through the company Aiolos Ltd they established 37 years ago, in 1985. At the same time, they began the importation of wines from all over the world.

Meeting Konstantinos Lazarakis MW was a catalytic moment. At the time he was without title but later became the first Master of Wine – MW in Greece and Southern Europe. “In his luminous face, everyone – not just me – can see his love and passion for wine and his incredible need to impart that knowledge to others. So, we established WSPC® to fulfil this mission.
