On Saturday, the 25th of April , 2009 two leading figures in the wine world, Serena Sutcliffe MW and David Peppercorn MW were invited to the headquarters of the WSPC to present a tasting seminar on the red wines from leading Grand Cru vineyards of Burgundy. Serena Sutcliffe, former translator and interpreter for NATO and Unesco, entered the wine industry in 1971. In 1976 she was awarded the title of Master of Wine. In the whole history of the Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) is just the second woman who managed to win the title of MW. In the years 1994 - 1995 she served as President of the IMW. In 1988 she was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of the Legionaries of Arts and Letters by the French government for her journalistic contributions to the French wine industry along with her husband ,David Peppercorn ΜW. From her rich literary output, the book "A Guide to the Wines of Burgundy" was selected as Book of the Year (1998) by the magazine Decanter for which she was also awarded the Silver Medal of the German Academy of Gastronomy and which is now in its eighth edition. Many more of her books are considered classics benchmarks in their various subjects. Today, she manages the international wine department of Sotheby's auction house and is a member of the European Committee of Sotheby's while giving lectures and participating in programmes on wines in Europe, USA and Asia.
David Peppercorn MW is married to Serena Sutcliffe MW and is also a Master of Wine and was also President of the Institute of Μasters of Wine for the period 1968-1970. He has been awarded the André Simon Prize and his writing has focused on French vineyards and more specifically on those of Bordeaux. His book "The Wines of Bordeaux" is considered one of the best books ever written on the vineyards of Bordeaux. Of course his contributions are not limited to just this book. He writes for the most prestigious magazines, he gives lectures all over the world and is one of the most renowned wine consultants internationally. Serena Sutcliffe MW and David Peppercorn MW could be regarded as the most famous couple in the world of wines. During the seminar, participants had the opportunity to try seven red Grand Cru wines of Burgundy and appreciate the specific features of each wine as well as the differences between them due to the characteristics of each vineyard, producer and year of harvest as estimated by three Masters of Wine simultaneously.

Echezeaux 2004 Domaine de la Romanée Conti The seminar lasted about three hours and was open to graduates and students of the following levels of Study: Level 2 / WSET Intermediate Certificate, Level 3 / WSET Advanced Certificate & Higher International Certificate and Diploma / WSET Diploma.
